This hat is named the Accidental Entrelac Slouch because I wasn’t intending to knit a slouch hat when I started working on the pattern. Instead, I was hoping to write a pattern for an entrelac beanie to showcase the slow color gradients in my most recent handspun yarn, which was a sport weight taupe/grey/blue/black colorway with silver sequins threaded throughout.

As I knit, it became apparent that the body of the hat was turning out much looser than I intended, so rather than fight with the size I decided to go with it, and my entrelac beanie evolved into a loose entrelac slouch.

I’m really happy with how this hat turned out- it makes an excellent slouch for a woman, but I could also see it being a nice entrelac beanie for a man with a larger head if the recommended needles were swapped for a set of size 4 needles (for the entire hat).
