Just what is needed to get your knitting skills noticed by those editing the nice list this year. A slouchy santa hat sized to fit most adults. The hat has an unstretched circumference of about 51cm/ 20” at the bottom edge.

The beard and trim is made with a loop stitch that also works well with smaller strands of yarn held together. The hat is knit in the round; the beard flat. They are joined with buttons so the beard can be adjusted to fit the wearer or removed if the fireplace and good cheer are making it too hot.

Materials:
Yarn: Bulky weight yarn such as Bernat Roving, approximately 100 yards/ 92 meters main hat colour (mc); approximately 80 yards/ 73 meters beard colour (cc).

Notions: Four 2cm/ ¾” buttons (optional)

Tools: 6 mm (US 10) 40 cm (16 inch) circular knitting needle, 6.5 mm (US 10.5) 40 cm (16 inch) circular knitting needle, (or sizes needed to obtain gauge/ or equivalent needles for magic loop method); tapestry needle.
