The Ascension Wall Hanging Crochet Pattern

This wall hanging crochet pattern is an assembled mix of different crochet techniques namely, regular crochet, applique crochet and amigurumi. It is a vibrant and spiritual home decor crochet project.

This is a special and deeply spiritual piece for me. It marked my journey as a creative crocheter and kick-started it in earnest. When I started designing it, I had no clear idea what I was going to make. It got created, as if out of its own accord. It hangs on my wall and every time I look at it, I feel confident.

Terms: US Terminology
Skill level: Intermediate (It is an advanced beginner pattern. I have marked it as intermediate because there are many different elements involved).
Size: 44” * 12”
Gauge: 4” = 9 rows x 17 sts
Yardage: 50 gms = 110 yards
Hook: G6 / 4mm
Yarn: Any light DK cotton yarn would do. For this pattern I have used Laura knitting cotton in off-white and all other colours in Anchor Knitting Cotton 4060 (equivalent light DK weight yarn). Make sure to use yarn that does not bleed colour.
Amount of yarn needed:
Off White (50gms/110 yards) – 2 Balls
9 colours - Violet, Light blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red- 15 gms each. Indigo colour- 25 gms
I have also used mauve, a very light blue and pink, pink variegated- around 10gms each.
A little bit of scrap black yarn/embroidery floss for the birds eyes and beak.
Rings: 4 numbers- one each in diameter 3”, 5”, 7” and 9” (I have used aluminium rings)
Darning needle
A pair of scissors
Stitch markers
Wooden bar: One (11-12 inches)
Amigurumi polyfill
