This pattern is for a very lovely earwarmer/headband! It can be made to fit. To make the width smaller/larger, decrease/increase the number of starting chains. To make the length shorter/longer, decrease/increase the number of rows of bean stitches.

Using the pattern as-is, the size ranges from 19.5-21.5” x 4.25-4.5” depending on type of yarn used.

UPDATE 01/26/13: Someone pointed out to me that I had written “half double chain” instead of “half double crochet.” I have corrected this mistake in the post and the PDF pattern.
