This pattern is for a very light knit baby blanket. It can be knit with just ONE Caron Big Cake and is just slightly smaller than the size of a crib mattress. My son is at the age where he is starting to explore and check everything out. He can easily lift this blanket to get a good look at it and in the event it accidentally goes over his face he can still breathe since there are a lot of holes from yarn overs (Note: Blanket shouldn’t be left over a baby’s face! Always practice safe sleeping habits!). The holes are also fun for tiny fingers to poke through! This blanket is loosely knit on US size 8 needles and worked flat. It’s more of a light summer blanket or comfort blankie than a cozy winter blanket, but you can definitely use a thicker yarn to make it a warm blanket. It is a repeating pattern that can easily accommodate a different gauge yarn - just add or remove stitches in multiples of five.
