Inspired by the granite breakwaters along the Maine coast and the tough little pigeons that seem to thrive in any weather, the Breakwater Beanie is a simple, straightforward hat you’ll find yourself knitting again and again.
It features a folded 2x2 ribbed brim and an easy stockinette body. While the pattern uses worsted-weight yarn, it’s knit on a US 6 needle, which creates a slightly tighter fabric. That extra density makes for a warm hat that’s great at trapping heat when the temperatures drop.
The pattern uses just one skein of yarn, making it a great way to use a special skein that’s been waiting in your stash.
The Breakwater Beanie comes in three sizes:
• Small (great for children)
• Medium (fits most adults)
• Large (fits larger adult heads)
