The Cardigan is a simple and timeless cardigan with a modern look. It features a slightly boxy fit, dropped shoulders, and a high ribbed collar. The asymmetric button closure along the neckline gives the cardigan a distinctive and elegant appearance.
The Cardigan is worked top down. First, the back is worked flat with increases. Stitches are then picked up along the top edge of the back, and the shoulders are worked from there. The body is worked flat on a circular needle. As the cardigan is worked from the top down, the length can easily be adjusted to your preference.
The sleeves are worked in the round from picked-up stitches around the armholes. Double-knit button bands are worked along the front edges. Finally, stitches are cast on using an Italian cast-on while stitches are picked up along the neckline to create the asymmetric closure, and the collar is worked in rib.
Make a swatch to determine the needle size needed to obtain the correct gauge. Wash and block your swatch before measuring.
