The Cat Friend
The Cat Friend is knitted almost exclusively in-the-round, because I dislike purling.
The slightly bended arms and legs are knitted with short rows.
The body is knitted bottom-up by grafting the legs together, then later grafting the arms to the body.
The head is knitted top down, then seamed together with the body.
The pattern has written instructions and illustrations. There are also 15 video tutorials for the more complicated parts of the pattern.
The Cat Friend uses approximately 1,5 skein of Drops Nepal, but since it is a plush, you can knit it with whatever yarn you wish. I do recommend a wool or wool blend yarn though.
The pattern includes a little fish toy for the cat.
Also needed for this pattern:
- A piece of thick felt (3 mm / ⅛ in) for the eyes and rolled up as a tube to stabilise the neck
- Embroidery thread or thin yarn to embroider the eyes
- Small pieces of yarn to embroider the nose, eyebrows, and mouth
The pattern has an appendix with further explanations and illustrations, and instructions on how to attach a magnet inside the paw (or as an alternative, a button) so the cat can hold its toy fish!
This pattern is my first published pattern. I have put a lot of love and effort into it, and I have had a handful of people knit through the pattern for me, giving me feedback and finding errors.
If you have any questions about the pattern, please do reach out and I will do my best to be of help!
