Check out the baseball version of this design: Knit the Season 2019

We knew at the end of the 2018 baseball season that the San Francisco Giants’ beloved right fielder, Hunter Pence, would most likely not return in 2019. Sure enough, just before spring training in 2019, he signed with another team.

The Catch Shawl honors the five and a half seasons Hunter played for the Giants and his AMAZING catch of a fly ball as he crashed into the right field fence during the 2014 NLDS at AT&T Park (now Oracle Park). The Giants won the NLDS and went on to win the World Series that year. Hunter brought his unique style, energy and excitement when he came to the team in 2012. While the fans are sad he isn’t playing for the Giants anymore, we wish him well wherever he is. Hunter Pence is forever Giant.

This shawl shape is a trapezoid. Stitches are cast on for the wide end, and decreases are worked to shape the shawl to its narrow end. Alternating blocks of color are worked, and a fun stitch pattern is worked every three blocks. Each edge of the shawl is an integrated i-cord.

Extra yarn is included in the yarn requirement. Any adjustments to the width and/or length will affect the yarn yardage requirement.

A video link for placing beads is provided. A progress tracker showing each row’s stitch count and to check off each row as you work is included as a separate file.
