This hat is inspired by a David Rose sweater from the show Schitt’s Creek. It’s knit top down, in the round. Techniques include colorwork and increases. Links to tutorials provided so don’t be intimidated if you are a beginner knitter! Colorwork is written and charted.

Needles and Notions:
For Body of hat:
US 5/3.75mm DPNs
US 5/3.75mm circular needles 16” (or longer for magic loop)
(Or needle size to obtain gauge.)
For brim of hat:
US 3/3.25mm circular needles 16” (or longer for magic loop)
(Or one to two needle sizes down from needle used to obtain gauge.)

Gauge:
23 stitches and 33 rounds per 4″ x 4″/10cm square.
Knit a swatch in the round with US 5/3.75 mm needles, or size needed to obtain gauge, and throw a star in there, especially if you are new to colorwork! You want to make sure your tension is even.
