The Crown Cardi
The Crown Cardi is inspired by English country wear. I have seen numerous scenes from The Crown where Claire Foy is hunting for roe dear, wearing Hunter Wellingtons, oilskin jacket and a knitted jumper. In my opinion, The Crown Cardi would also fit perfectly in her majesty the Queens closet. It is warm, so English, and from another time.
This cosy cardigan is knitted in a combination of merino wool and silk mohair and has a pretty two-coloured pattern on both body and sleeves. The pattern is worked with only one colour on the needles at the time. The cardigan is worked from the top down and is knitted with saddle shoulders with increase to shape both back and forth. Following the shoulders, the neckline is shaped, and the number of stitches increase the sleeves. The cardigan is worked from the neckline to the beginning of the armholes in one piece, and after that both the sleeves and body is worked individually.
