Have a picky male in your life? This hat is the product of many trial and error knit hats for my hubby. Give it a whirl and rest easy knowing you’ve found The One!

NOTE ABOUT BEANIE LENGTH
My “Dave” doesn’t like hats that completely cover his ears (I told you he was picky!), so in the pattern I start the decreases at 5.5” from the cast on edge. If you think your recipient would prefer covered lobes, just continue in the round until 6-6.25” from the cast on edge before starting the decrease rounds for the top. :)***

SLOUCHY version
Slouch hats are all the rage, especially for the younger “Dave’s” in your life. Here are the modifications to make A SLOUCHY DAVE:
Cast on 88 sts and work in K2,p2 or k1,p1 using US 7s for 1.75”. Stay with the 88sts but switch to US 8s and knit every round until hat measures 8.5” from cast on edge. Work Dave beanie decreases for crown.
Hat measures a wee bit over 10”s from cast on to the very top- measured flat.
