Socks are the perfect project to play with some fun motifs! The Deer socks will give you just that - deer.

The Deer socks have a ribbed cuff and deer themed colourwork on the foot. The socks are knit cuff-down and feature a heelflap and gusset. The pattern is written for magic loop, but can be worked with dpns as well.

Note the tight gauge the pattern is written for, if your gauge is off you may run out of room for the colourwork motif on the foot. Alternatively, the deer pattern could be placed on the leg as well, in that case you’d want to work the cuff with main colour. Substituting the heelflap and gusset for a short row heel would also give you more wiggle room on the foot size.

Size:
1-2-3, 64-72-80 sts.

Finished circumference: 7.5-8.5-9.5” / 19-21-23,5 cm
Choose the size closest to the actual measurements of your feet.

Yarn:
Jalovilla Pikkupässi (65 % Åland sheep wool, 20 % other Finnish wool, 15 % biodegradable polyamide, 360 m / 100 g) or other fingering weight sock yarn. Shown in colourways Savu (MC) and Tuhka (CC).

1 skein of MC, half a skein of CC.
The required yardage depends on the size chosen and the length of the leg and foot.

Needle:
2,25 mm (US 1) and 2,5 mm (US 1½) - 32” / 80 cm circular needle for magic loop (or dpns if you prefer). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the right gauge for each section.

Gauge:
17 sts x 22 rnds = 2 x 2” / 5 x 5 cm in stockinette worked in the round on the smaller needle /
16 sts x 21 rnds = 2 x 2” / 5 x 5 cm in colourwork worked in the round on the smaller needle (after blocking).
