The Doddle jacket is knitted bottom-up as one piece until the sleeves when the fronts and back are knitted separately. Sleeves are picked up at the armholes and then worked top down. There is a collar and textured stitch (bamboo stitch) using two yarns (in this case a combination of Fingering 4 ply and Sport 5 ply) to make an overall DK weight.

With minimal shaping and the easiest of stitch patterns the Doddle is perfect for adventurous beginners (note there is picking up of stitches and the sleeves are knitted in the round) but interesting enough for the more experienced knitter. It’s also beautifully soft for the kiddiwinks.

PS If something is a doddle in British English it means it’s easy to do. “How was the pattern?” “No problems, it was a doddle.”
