The Doily Dress - what started out as an experiment into a buttoned top turned into this beautiful dress! This pattern comes in 23 sizes ranging from a 72cm to 160cm bust, in 4cm increments. Upon purchase, you will be able to download any and all of these sizes. Please note the Glossary and Introduction are separate files to the pattern, so make sure to download them too!

The bust is intended to be fitted, so please take that into account when choosing your size. The dress shown in the picture shows a design where the garment bust matches the actual bust. Remember that the fabric can stretch a bit to fit around you, so I would round down your bust measurement to the nearest size option. The waistband for each pattern is about 10cm smaller than the bust measurement and is less stretchy. If you require a looser waistband, go up a hook size for that section. The length of the top is the same for every size - about 36cm. The intended style is similar to a babydoll dress which is why the waistband is so high.

This pattern is quite a big undertaking with a lot of repeated patterns, so I’ve created a glossary of some of the shorthand terms I use, and diagrams for the stitches and repeats used. You will need to read this before starting, and keep it handy to refer to when you start working your pattern!

While this pattern uses basic stitches, the construction is a bit complex so I would say this is an Intermediate level of difficulty. This pattern is written in US terms.
