The Dolly Sweater
The Dolly Sweater
Please note before purchasing! This pattern is for The Dolly Sweater in ONE SIZE ONLY! The sweater size is a M/L and will fit a medium loosely and a large snugly. Please check the sweater measurements before purchase!
Also, this pattern is for intermediate crocheters. To complete the sweater, you will need to follow the written instructions on how to use a tapered granny stripe in black yarn to add ease to the sleeves and sides of the sweater. The sleeves will be too tight without this step.
Sweater Measurements
Width of the Front of the Sweater: 21.75 inches measured just under the armpits
Length of the Sweater: 23.25 inches from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the hem
Length of Sleeve: 21 inches measured from the seam at the top of the shoulder to the edge of the cuff
Collar Opening: 9.5 inches from shoulder seam to shoulder seam
Cuff Width: 5.25 inches measured folded in half
Sleeve Width at Shoulder: 10.5 inches measured folded from the seam at the top of the shoulder to the armpit
The Dolly Sweater was inspired by Dolly Parton’s song “Coat of Many Colors” written about a coat that Dolly’s mother made for her from fabric scraps.
For this written granny square pattern, the knotted granny method was used to minimize the number of ends that will need to be woven in at the end. Diagrams are included to help you with the granny square layout prior to assembly. Directions are also provided on how to make shaped grannies to result in a more tailored final look to the collar and sleeves. In addition, instructions are given to add a tapered ease to the sleeves and sides of the sweater.
Links to video tutorials to help with the invisible seam, the knotted granny square method, and the ribbing are provided.
