Skill Level and Techniques
Experienced. Techniques used in this pattern:

  • twisted stitch lace
  • work in rows changing to in the round

Size
Adult. Size can be increased or decreased by changing needle size.

  • palm circumference: 7.5”/19cm after blocking
  • length: 9”/23cm after blocking

Gauge
20 sts in 4”/10cm, US4/3.5mm, stockinette, in rows, not blocked

Yarn
This was a serious game of yarn chicken with some very special yarn. I used 2 sets of circulars to Magic Loop the mitts at (almost) the same time, each on its own needle, without dividing the skein.

This is a fine/sport weight yarn, Yarn Council Standard #2. I recommend having about 1.5oz/42g in 100yd/91m available.

  • Hand spun alpaca cria, 2 ply, 84yd/76m per 1oz/28g, used 82yd/75m

Tools

  • US4/3.5mm, 32”/80cm, circular or double points, 2 sets if working two at a time
  • crochet hook to match
