These booties are designed for a newborn baby weighing between 5lbs-8lbs (2.3-3.4kg) and are knitted flat on straight needles. Little booties are perfect for finishing off an outfit and will keep tiny toes warm. They measure just 3 inches (7.5cm) long and 2 inches (5cm) high; are knitted bottom up and are very quick to make.

This pattern is written in an easy to follow format perfect for new knitters and those picking up their needles after a long break. The pattern gives row by row instructions and the number of stitches you have on the needles after the increases. You can use your memory or a row counter to keep track of where you are in the pattern, or mark off the rows as you knit them on the chart on page two. Each row has a box at the end to tick when you have knitted it and there is a table with the row numbers to tick when you are doing the rib section.

These tiny booties just take a few meters of yarn so they are an excellent way of using up leftovers; you will need approximately 20g of DK (8ply). Remember that babies grow very quickly and these booties will probably only fit for a week or too so don’t spend too much on the yarn.
