As of March 26, 2014, a new version of this pattern is available. It is The Fishnet Slouchy. The new pattern uses my updated pattern template, adds an Extra Large size, and changes the beanie into a slouchy.

The Fishnet Beanie pattern is no longer available, but you can use the Fishnet Slouchy pattern to make a beanie -- just work fewer rounds.

This simple beanie is crocheted with a big hook, creating a very stretchy beanie that fits a wide range of sizes.

Worked in the round, the seamless hat offers different length options, using about 75 yds./69 m of bulky-weight Bulky 5 yarn for the beanie as shown.

Yarn should have a recommended gauge between 8 to 10 sc = 4 in./10 cm. A yarn mix of two or more yarns held together to achieve the equivalent of a bulky-weight yarn also works wonderfully for this design.

The 2-page written pattern also provides links for technique tutorials and stitch definitions for new crocheters.

Pattern has been tested in Ravelry’s The Happy Hookers Hangout group and by my Needlecrafters group in San Antonio, TX. Thanks, y’all!
