The Flower Star Square is my first full granny square pattern.
I call it the Flower Star, because it begins as a flower with petals and then darts out like the beams of a star :)
This is a Free Pattern which I hope you will enjoy.

The pattern requires some knowledge of crochet – it contains front post, double treble, crochet between stitches, and working across 2 rows in one round, but it contains full written instructions, repeats which are easy to memorise and stitch counts for checking every row.
So, I would say it is suitable for an adventurous beginner or intermediate crocheter.

The pattern also contains images for each row, including close ups of particular stitches to aid the instructions in the written pattern.

This pattern makes a medium-sized square.
My squares made using this pattern measure 7 inches, made in DK with a 4.5mm hook.

Edit:
I have just made this pattern in Aran yarn with a 5.5mm hook and it measures 9 inches.
You can see it on my project page here: The Flower Star Square In Aran

If there are any questions on the pattern, please let me know. It hasn’t been tested by anyone apart from me, but I have made a number of squares using it with no problems, so the stitch count and placement does seem to be fine.

I hope you enjoy my pattern, and I would love to see your Flower Star Squares!
