Gallivanter is a small cross-body or neck pouch to knit up a couple nights before a trip – or simply use as a handy pouch in your daily life. Designed to fit a large passport wallet and a phone. This pattern is simple enough to personalize and make the bag size you prefer.

Skill Level:

Yarn:
Malabrigo Silky Merino
(51% Silk, 49% Wool – Merino; 150 yds 155m/ 50 g)
Shade: Tatami 431; 1 skein
Or DK weight yarn of choice

Needles:
Straight or circular needles in size US 6 (4 mm)
One set double-pointed needles in size US 6 (4 mm)
Or size to obtain gauge

Notions:
Locking stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Large button (sample button = 2.4cm)

Gauge:
21.5 sts and 41 rows = 4” (10 cm) in seed stitch pattern, after blocking

Notes:
Front and back are worked separately, then mattress-stitched together. The back is made identical to the front, then extended for the flap.
The first and last stitch of each row make up the selvedge stitches for sewing the pieces together.
For the strap, stitches are picked up at one side edge and worked using I-cord method until desired length, then sewn onto the remaining side edge.
