The Garment (Crochet Version)
Let the Garment envelop you; experience its heft and (fully crocheted) splendor.
Sizing
As per the original knit Garment, the shoulder ribbing expands to fit a wide variety of sizes. The Garment has been tested by adults of various sizes and comfortably fits up to a 50” bust circumference (which is typically an American size 2XL or 3XL). For larger Garment-wearers, please see notes at the beginning of the “Body” section.
Since this design is made top-down, simply stop when it’s long enough. For reference, I am 5’6” and my Garment comes to mid-calf (not including the fringe). I used every last inch of yarn. If you want your Garment to be longer, you will need more yarn. As a general guideline, once the Garment reached my knees, it took me approximately 75 yards of yarn per 1 inch of length. For a full-length Garment (where the fringe is nearly brushing the ground), I would’ve needed an additional ball of yarn for 15 balls (3,270 yards) total. Based on these calculations, here are yardage estimates for heights from 5’0” to 6’0” to make a full-length Garment (keeping in mind that these are only an approximation and will depend on individual yarn/hook/gauge).
5’0” — 2,820 yards
5’1” — 2,895 yards
5’2” — 2,970 yards
5’3” — 3,045 yards
5’4” — 3,120 yards
5’5” — 3,195 yards
5’6” — 3,270 yards
5’7” — 3,345 yards
5’8” — 3,420 yards
5’9” — 3,495 yards
5’10” — 3,570 yards
5’11” — 3,645 yards
6’0” — 3,720 yards
