The Hessle Hat is a simple trapper-style hat, with ear folds and i-cord ties.

SKILL LEVEL:

Intermediate crocheters.

TECHNIQUES USED:

The two main stitches used are ‘Slip Stitch Ribbing’ and ‘Single Crochet Ribbing’. It also uses i-cord edging and i-cord ties techniques.

SIZES:

There is one adult size included, suitable for both men and women.

HOOK REQUIREMENTS:

5.5mm crochet hook, tapestry needle and stitch markers. A second 5.5mm hook is helpful for the i-cord edge.

YARN REQUIREMENTS:

The hood is worked with one strand of a Chunky weight yarn.

You will need 150g of West Yorkshire Spinners Re:Treat Chunky (100g/140m/153yds). Note - you only need 1.5 balls of this yarn.

Most chunky weight yarn will be suitable, but you will need to calculate the meterage/yardage required for your chosen alternative yarn and work a gauge swatch.
