The High Priestess bag
This tutorial, with photos, colourful charts, and detailed written instructions will teach you how to make The High Priestess drawstring bag. It is designed to fit a large tarot deck (hence the name) but can be made bigger, smaller, longer or shorter.
It is made using predominantly mosaic overlay technique. Working in the round - almost no loose ends to look after, other than when you are completely finished with any one colour.
You will need yarn of the same weight in 6 colours. I used Hobbii Rainbow cotton 4/8. Overall the amount of yarn for each colour is minimal (10-12 gr for each colour, approx. 0.3oz - the exact amounts are listed in the pattern), and thus this project is perfect to clear out a stash of little bits of yarn left over from other projects.
Final size (if using similar yarn to mine) -the flat laying bag measures 13cm x 21cm (approx. 5x8 inches). It is designed to fit a large tarot deck, with cards measuring 8.5 x 14cm (approx. 3.5 x 5.5 inches), however it can be made longer by adding an extra section of petals (or shorter). It can also be wider - if you make a bigger base to fit more petals (or narrower).
I will be adding a printer friendly version to this pattern in a few days if it’s requested.
I would absolutely love to see your finished project so please feel free to tag me on your FB or IG post if you are sharing your completed bag!
