The Hook-It Book is an easily customizable pattern, to help create your own hook and tool case. Yes, we can buy something pretty that serves this purpose (I have quite a few!) but crocheting the case that holds our crochet tools feels extra special.

You can make this your own with your own choice of solid colors, stripes, or even the “hooks” print as shown in the pictures. The grid is attached at the end if you want to try it out.

One thing I’ve been big on is combining skills and building new and/or weaker ones. This pattern includes a little bit of sewing to attach the fabric, pockets (optional), and the elastic. If you’re 100% new to sewing and prefer not to, you can opt for a quality fabric glue.

List materials needed…

5 mm crochet hook
Approximately 220 yards of your choice medium weight yarn.
1 Sewing needle
Thread
Fabric glue optional. You can use this to replace thread and a sewing needle.
Elastic - you can choose any width. I chose a half an inch.
2 Pieces of plastic canvas - cut 13.5”x8” OR you can use sturdy cardboard, because recycling is cool! :)
2 Pieces of cotton fabric - cut 13.75”x8.25”
Cotton fabric of any size optional for pockets, if wanted!

Although trying new things can be hard, I think you will find this project enjoyable. The final product is adorable and very useful for us crocheters!
