The “In-law Chaser” is what Navajo’s say when the rain/snow clouds look like they’re going to bring a lot of precipitation, but it “pretends” and barely gives you but a few drops or snowflakes and moves on.
The “In-law Chaser” is a simple design that allows for you to play with basic color-work. The pattern is a modest repeat but you’ll have to keep close attention to the changing colors.
I chose this repetitive motif because I often design complex color-work with many shapes and wanted to pay tribute to the repeat designs found in Navajo Rugs. Having a “quieter” design allows for the item to be worn with more items and not to be a focal point but a subtle accessory.
