This felted bag is designed as playful yet durable everyday accessory. The bag is knit first and then felted, resulting in a dense, durable fabric with a soft texture and a clean, well-defined shape.
The design allows for endless color combinations - from simple stripes to bold letterings. After felting, the bag holds its shape beautifully and becomes surprisingly strong.

Pattern includes KNIT chart, KNITTER chart, whole ALPHABET chart to make your own designs and blank charts to play with. Also two sizes and two handles options.

Pattern

The bag is worked from the bottom up. Begin with a provisional cast on and knit the bottom section in stockinette stitch for the required number of rows. Stitches are then picked up along both sides of the panel while working live stitches and stitches from provisional cast on. The bag is joined and worked in the round, shaped with a small number of increases. The chart is worked at the center of the bag. The handles are worked separately using I-cord and attached to the bag. An optional pocket is added. Finally, the bag is felted in a washing machine to achieve the final size and texture.

Design

The design allows for easy customization of colors, chart placement and size. You can use charts provided or use stitchfiddle.com to create your own chart. To make a bag wider, add more increase rounds. To make it taller, add more rounds to the height. If you want a striped version, change the color every 2 or 4 rows and carry the yarn up the side of the bag.
