I designed this pattern for use with double knitting yarn with a 4mm hook but it would suit any yarn weight with the appropriate hook. The pattern works particularly well with a cotton content yarn. The blue square pictured was made using Stylecraft Cotton Classique DK (100% cotton) in Greek Blue. The Mustard and Grape squares are Stylecraft Special DK (100% acrylic).
The pattern gives two size options: the basic smaller square, or the larger square version which can be made as large as required - up to afghan size.
