The lady slipper in the woods
I love being out in nature especially in the woods. In my childhood we would always go to our local nature center which had short trails around the facility where you would be able to find all sorts of different types of trees, mushrooms and best of all wild flowers. Lady slippers were one of my favorite and last year on a hike we came across these beautiful flowers in the forest which was my inspiration into creating this shawl. I researched knit stitch designs and I came across this beautiful stitch pattern which I used to create this shawl.
This shawl is worked from the bottom up increasing on both ends on each right side row. You will notice that there are cross stitches worked on some of the wrong side rows which makes it a little challenging but I have provided written instructions for these stitches. When I was finished with the Lady slipper design I decided to add a lace leaf edging which is worked by picking up and knitting together one working stitch from the shawl and one stitch from the leaf edging pattern.
As you can see I have listed a few light fingering weight yarn options. I did use the CoopKnits Socks Yeah! yarn in 2 color ways. The main part was done in ruby and the lace leaf edge was done in gray.
