This striped cowl is designed to use up the very last bits of yarn from your projects. The sample shows evenly spaced stripes, but you can vary the stripe width to use up lengths of just a few metres and create a cowl that is unique.

Yarn: Total 60 g double knit weight yarn, approximately 220 m / 100 g, in a variety of colours, each stripe as shown uses approximately 3 g.

Sample shown in scraps left over from the Carpe Lana collection, a mixture of DK weights and 4-ply held double.

Needles: 4.0 mm / US 6 needles for working flat.

Notions: Tapestry needle, waste yarn and crochet hook for provisional cast on (optional).

Skills: Provisional cast on (optional), knit, grafting (optional), weaving in ends.

Gauge: 20 sts and 40 rows over 10 cm / 4” in garter stitch, unstretched. Gauge is not critical for this project but different gauges will affect yardage requirements and size.

Sizing: Pattern gives instructions for a cowl of 50 cm / 19 ½” circumference and 11 cm / 4 ½” depth. You can adjust the sizing by adding or removing cast on stitches and changing the total number of rows worked.
