I wrote this pattern while making a top for my Mum’s birthday present, and I think there’ll be more similar to come! I’m not a fan of slow working garments, so I wanted to make a pretty lacy look top using DK yarn which works up quite quickly, but doesn’t look messy.

The pattern is worked top-down, and involves minimal sewing as most of the parts are joined together with crochet. The sleeves are worked in the round once the main bulk of the pattern is done.

Please see the images for a chart on the sizes available, and the amount of yarn you’ll need for each size.

The gauge is for unblocked work. The blocking on this pattern is vertical only, so the double crochets (Treble in UK) stretch in length, but not in width. A blocked square of the same pattern should measure 10cm in width, and approx 12.5cm in length.

Gauge pattern:
Start with chain 18, plus ch2 turning chain. Dc1 into 3rd chain from hook. ‘Skip 1 chain and ch1, then dc1 into next chain. Repeat from ‘ 8 times. Dc1 into final chain. This is 1 row worth of 18 stitches for the gauge swatch. Row 2: Ch2, dc into first stitch, ‘ch1, then dc1 into next chain space. Repeat from ‘ 8 times. Dc1 into final stitch. Repeat Row 2 for remainder of swatch.

Materials:
4.5mm hook.
Cotton DK Yarn - I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK in the colour “Light Champagne”. The amount of yarn you will need is detailed in the images.
Yarn needle.
Scissors.
Stitch markers.
Blocking board and pins. I used foam boards and tacking pins.
