The Lost City is a top-down colourwork sweater that takes inspiration from the beautiful ruins of Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire, UK.

SAMPLE
The wearer is 5’10” / 178 cm with a 37” / 92.5 cm chest circumference.

The green sample has been worked in size L, giving the wearer 8.5” / 21.5 cm of positive ease at the chest. To allow for the height of the wearer, the yoke has been split for body and sleeves after Colourwork 5.

The black and white sample has also been worked in size L, but with modifications to allow for the height of the wearer. The yoke has been split for body and sleeves after Colourwork 6. For the sleeves, 6 extra stitches have been picked up at the underarm to work the sleeves as for size XL. The sleeves have been lengthened by working 5 rounds between each colourwork section instead of 4.

SIZING
This garment is graded into sizes XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL). Recommended positive ease is 4-10” / 10-25 cm at the chest circumference and a minimum of 2” / 5 cm of positive ease at the upper sleeve circumference.
Finished Garment Chest Circumference:
33.5 (36, 40.75, 45.5, 48) (52.75, 57.5, 60, 64.75)“ /
84 (90, 102, 114, 120) (132, 144, 150, 162) cm.

CONSTRUCTION
This garment is worked top-down, in the round. After casting on stitches for the yoke, short row shaping is incorporated to optimise fit. The majority of the yoke features sections of stranded colourwork patterns. Once the yoke is completed, stitches are separated into body and sleeves, which are each worked separately and in the round. Stitches for the neckband are picked up and worked in the round.

GAUGE
Using 4 mm / US size 6 needles, or needle size required to meet gauge, 20 stitches over 26 rounds in both stockinette stitch and colourwork, blocked, creates a 4x4” / 10x10 cm square.
Neckband, waistband and cuff circumferences assume you are working 5.5 sts per 1” / 2.5 cm.
