Every now and then, a design comes along that feels like a little love letter in yarn … and the Luckiest Socks are just that.

This design came to me on a rare weekend away with my husband - just the two of us, with the kids off on their own adventure. In the quiet, I found myself dreaming up a sock that felt equal parts playful and comforting, much like those moments where you get to reconnect with the people who mean the most.

A simple texture created by crossed stitches runs across the front of the leg and top of the foot, creating a rhythm that’s soothing to knit and beautiful to wear.

Inspired by the tender lyrics of The Luckiest by Ben Folds, these socks are a reminder of the people who make us feel grounded, cherished, and lucky beyond measure.

Worked in cozy DK weight yarn, they knit up quickly … perfect for a heartfelt gift or a treat just for yourself.

So tell me … who in your life makes you feel like you’re the luckiest?

THIS PATTERN INCLUDES:
* Fully written instructions
* Charts for the stitch pattern repeat
* Video tutorials are available for the special stitches

FINISHED SOCK CIRCUMFERENCE:
Sizes: 1 (2, 3) [4, 5]
6.25 (7, 8.25) [9.25, 10.25]” or 15.5 (17.5, 20.5, 23) [25.5, 27.5] cm

Selecting Your Size: See the chart at the top of Page 3 in the pattern for a guide. I recommend picking your size from the finished measurement above that is approx. 1-1.5 inches or 2.5-4 cm smaller than the actual foot circumference, measured at the ball of the foot.

YARN:
DK weight yarn in 1 color.

Sample used Bad Sheep Yarn DK (75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon; 245 yards/224 meters per 100 grams), approximately 221 (243, 292) [328, 363] yards/202 (223, 267) [300, 332] meters

GAUGE:
26 sts and 32 rounds = 4”/10 cm, worked in stockinette stitch in the round, after wet blocking.

Important Gauge Note:
This sock pattern is designed with a specific round gauge in mind, which is essential for achieving the intended gusset length and overall fit.

If your round gauge differs from the stated gauge, the fit of the sock may be affected. You may need to make additional calculations or adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit. For best results, it is strongly recommend knitting and measuring a gauge swatch in the round before beginning.

Furthermore, if you have high arches, you may find the fit too snug for comfort. Additional modifications may be needed - or this might not be the sock for you.

NEEDLES:
* US 3/3.25 mm; one set of needles for your preferred style of small-circumference knitting (or size needed to obtain gauge)
* Darning Needle

Note: This pattern is written using Magic Loop with a long circular needle, or two circular needles. You may choose to adjust for DPNs or a 9”/22 cm circular needle.

NOTIONS:

• Stitch Markers, 2 (any type)
• An additional Stitch Marker (locking) or scrap yarn for a lifeline before beginning the gusset
• Row Counter (or scrap paper)
