A little knitting adventure in 4 parts..
With a nod towards the Lesney Matchbox Cars factory of Hackney Marshes, we’ve designed 4 miniature sweaters. Each one follows a different construction and has all the details and techniques that you’d find in a fully grown sweater – just on a much tinier scale. The patterns have been carefully thought through to be manageable by anyone who can cast on and knit and purl, and who doesn’t mind searching out the odd online tutorial to fill in their techniques gaps – these are sweaters you CAN knit and even more importantly, FINISH. And then start another.
Each sweater uses approximately 8g of 4ply wool, so they can easily be made out of scraps. Alternatively the Matchbox Sweater Project Kit, available from wildandwoollyshop.co.uk has enough wool in a choice of four seasonal colour combinations to make 12 sweaters plus a few mini treats exclusive to the kits. They are enchanting as bunting, delightful as tree decorations, effortlessly stylish as knitwear for chilly dolls or, stuck on a card, they are apt to make someone you love smile. A lot.
Welcome to the smallest knitting adventure in Clapton. We hope you enjoy the ride!
