The Modular Dress
This dress uses a European shoulder construction. The upper back is first knit as a rectangle, then after a given number of rows, 2 stitches are increased every other row to create a taper for the armhole. The straps are knit by picking up stitches from both the left and right side then joined to knit the front similarly to the back. Once the front pieces are joined under the arms, the dress is knit with a tapered fit.
This dress is custom designed based on precise measurements. Attached to this PDF is a spreadsheet that generates step-by-step instructions based on the input measurements corresponding to the diagram below and input number of rows and stitches for a 4inx4in (10cmx10cm) gauge swatch. The spreadsheet has been repeatedly tested and troubleshot with different measurements and gauges. It requires minimal knowledge of spreadsheet use, as the only step to complete is the necessary inputs.
