When asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” as a little girl, I would always answer, “A ballerina!” I took ballet classes for nearly seven years, but quit around middle school.

Even though I didn’t take to the dancing world, I still enjoy watching it. The Nutcracker was the first ballet I’ve ever seen, and the music, the costumes, and the dancers still enchant me with a magical story I can replay in my head. While knitting The Nutcracker Scarf, I listened to the soundtrack of the ballet. The lace pattern used is Snowflake Lace, in reference to the Waltz of the Snowflakes at the end of Act I.

Seeing (or listening to) The Nutcracker can make any girl, young or old, feel like a ballerina.
