The October Blanket is a mosaic crochet blanket. This 13 page pattern is charted but comes with a description (written and photo tutorial) about how to read a charted pattern. It also contains a phototutorial on how to crochet a two-toned border.

Gauge: 16 st x 16 rows = 10 cm/ 4 inches.

The October Blanket has two main colors, you’ll need 1495 meters of color A (5 skeins) and 1495 meters of color B (5 skeins).
It also has a stripe sequence in two Contrast Colors, Contrast Color 1 requires 5 meters, Contrast Color 2 requires 2,5 meters.
For the two toned border another 132 meters of color A and 230 meters of color B is needed.

The pattern is written by a right handed crocheter, but since it is mirrored the charts can be read from left to right also.

I do think a beginner can crochet this pattern, the difficulty lies not in the stitches used but in the amount of stitches in each repeat.
While the patterns calls for two colors (make sure there is enough contrast between them) don’t feel limited by just two colors! You could use any amount of colors you like.
