The Path is the Destination
The Path is the Destination Cowl was designed for crocheters who can confidently work single and double crochet stitches in rows, and are ready to learn some new stitches and techniques.
The fabric for the cowl is made in rows. Once complete, the ends are seamed together and the top and bottom of the cowl is then edged and a border added.
This project offers you the chance to deepen your understanding of crochet as follows:
- learn the importance of stitch and fabric anatomy
- how placing your hook in different places when working a stitch creates a completely different look and feel to your crochet fabric
- how combining different stitches creates fabric that has a strikingly different physical and visual texture
The technical skills explained and demonstrated include:
- Two different methods for changing colours
- How to measure gauge, and what adjustments can help you make gauge
- How to edge and add a border to your fabric
- How best to sew in tail ends
The stitches you get a chance to learn or practice are:
- Alternating BLO/FLO single crochet
- Lemon peel (or Griddle) stitch
- Granny stitch in rows
- Crossed double crochet
- Brick stitch
The pattern listed here on Ravelry includes both written and charted instructions and a photo tutorial. If you purchase the pattern on Ravelry, you also will receive access to the video tutorials which can be found here.
