A very detailed step-by-step recipe for basic toe-up socks that will fit perfectly - no matter the shape/size of your feet or the yarn you want to use. Featuring an invisible and well-rounded toe box and an adjustable heel (no picking up stitches!)

Included in the pattern:

  • pdf with altogether 12 pages
  • very detailed step-by-step written instructions
  • tons of pictures and helpful tips
  • video knit-along available
  • video tutorials for all knitting techniques are available (on my blog)

Important: The base pattern is available for free on my blog. Only if you want to support my work, want to help me cover the expenses for tech-editing and test-knitting, and want/need the instructions as a pdf, will you have to purchase the pattern. As an alternative, you can also opt to support me on my patreon account. All patrons get the pdf for free.

Difficulty: intermediate

These socks can be knit in the round using circular or double-pointed knitting needles. The focus of this pattern, or rather recipe, lies in providing you with the means to knit those perfect socks. As a result, it uses some a little bit more advanced stitches to combat common flaws of simpler patterns.

You will have to do some simple calculations (literally just entering 3 numbers into your calculator). Since there is a video knit-along available and slow-motion step-by-step tutorials for all techniques, it should be nothing any passionate knitter can’t handle.

Yarn and yardage:
The sample is knit with a solid 6-ply sheep wool sock yarn blend. For shoe sizes below 42 (EU) or ~10 (US) a 100-gram skein will typically be enough. As the instructions tell you exactly how to determine your cast-on requirements in case you are using a different yarn, you can finish these toe-up socks with any other yarn weight from light-fingering to DK.

Skills required:
knit, purl, KFB, SKL, KLL, KRL, mds, k2tog, SSK, p2tog, sl1, magic cast-on, stretchy bind-off

Materials:

  • ~100 grams of yarn.
  • Circular needles or a set of 5 dpns
  • tapestry needle
  • scissors
  • 4 stitch markers
