The PhD Vest is an oversized V-neck vest. It’s constructed top down seamlessly, starting with the back knitted flat with a drop shoulder construction. The right and left front panels are worked flat from picking up stitches at the shoulders to shape the V-neck, then the panels are joined to create the front. Armhole are worked on both the back and front panels to shape the armholes. The body is worked in the round after joining the back and front. The body, neck and arm edges are worked in 1x1 rib and bound off using the Italian bind-off method.

Yarn suggestion: the beige sample was knitted in a DK-weight Colourmart Merino yarn that had 146 m / 50g. The teal sample was knitted in Market Town Yarns Squishy DK sock yarn (225 m / 100g). A true DK or light worsted yarn would work well for this gauge, as well as a fingering + lace weight combo for a lighter garment.

Yarn amount required in meters (this is an estimate and will likely need adjustment depending on garment length): (600, 650, 650) (650, 700, 700) (750, 750, 750) (750, 800, 800) (800, 850, 850), 850 m
