This pattern can be used to make a light airy summer shawl with cotton or cotton mix yarns; or a warmer shawl for cooler temperatures with acrylic, wool or wool mix yarns.

This pattern includes:

  • Row by row instructions and photographs to make this pattern clear and easy to follow;

  • Instructions for a child size and adult sized shawls;

  • Yardage for both sizes as well as yardage for colour work if you choose to make puff stitches in a contrasting colour.

Yarn requirements:

Medium yarn (size 4, worsted, aran)

Child size: approx. 381 yards
Adult size: approx. 746 yards

If you choose to make puff stitches in a contrasting colour you will need:

Child size:

  • Colour A (body) : approx. 250 yards

  • Colour B (puff sts): approx. 131 yards

Adult size:

  • Colour A (body): approx. 514 yards

  • Colour B (puff sts): approx. 232 yards

Please note: yardage estimate does not include yarn needed for tassles.

Stitches used: ch, dc, hdc, hdc2tog, modified puff stitch (explained in pattern)

Hook: 5mm (H-8) hook or any hook to achieve the suggested gauge

Level: Advanced beginner to intermediate

Finished sizes:

Child: approx. 53 inches long and 18.5 inches in height
Adult: approx. 75 inches long and 24 inches in height
