This pattern includes 5 different designs for pockets. They only come in one size, but it is explained how to adjust both height and width based on desired measurements. This is a detail that can be added on any garment or object. The idea came when I had finished knitting a gray cardigan that didn’t seem right as a finished object. I’d rather wear a store-bought cardigan instead of this hand knitted cardigan that I spent many hours making. When I reflected on why I preferred this cardigan, one of the factors was that it had pockets. So, I decided to make some pockets. One of the pockets that I have included in this pattern was made to fit this cardigan. Some of the pockets I have chosen to use in pairs, others I have chosen to have only one of. All the pockets are shown how they can be used.

1 - pocket in double ribbing, used on a cardigan.

2 - pocket in stockinette, used on my self made utility board. This is a photo frame where I removed the glass, I placed different pockets, drilled holes in the back of the frame and sew the pockets on.

3 - pocket with a lid, used on my working suit. I use this suit for gardening, car maintenance and stuff like that, and it didn’t have a pocket for my phone. It does now!

4 - pocket shaped like a house, used in my pink Linnie Bag for my phone, and on my utility board.

5 - heart shaped pocket in garter stitch, used on my utility board. I have also sewn 2 on my apron that I use in the Kitchen. But my apron was not in a photo friendly shape.

Techniques used in the pockets:
Long tail cast on
Knit and purl
Regular bind off
Bind off in stockinette that doesn’t roll
Increase knitting 2 in 1
Decrease right and left knit stitch
Bind off by knitting two together through the backloop
icord edging
Slipped stitch
Embroider on details

All techniques are shown on youtube knit_tech.

Very important pattern information - this pattern is not written by a big business or a professional writer. It is written with my own words driven by a passion for knitting, crafting and writing. If you have any questions, please just ask. I check my messages and emails several times every week.

I hope this pattern will contribute to some practical solution for your already made or own garments, or whatever else is missing a pocket or two.

Happy knitting!
