This vibrant purse is worked from the bottom up, and is perfect for stashing your essentials or hauling a WIP around. Cheerful and compact, this pattern offers both the tomato and the blueberry motif, as well as general guidelines for modifying for a different colorwork chart so you can knit whatever matches your own personal style and mood. Thoughtful details create a charming yet functional piece, and the sturdy purse frame and tight gauge gives more structure than you’d normally find in a knit bag. The pattern also includes the optional modification to forgo the handle and work this as a clutch instead, and offers two methods by which you can form the handle: A simple method, or a seamless method, which allows you to choose your approach based on preference and skill level.

Note that all colorwork is done in the round.

Materials:

Yarn for Tomato Motif:

If holding 2 strands of fingering weight yarn:
Approximately: Color A (Background) 400m, Color B (Tomato) 300m, Color C (Vines) 100m

If holding 1 strand of DK weight yarn:
Approximately: Color A (Background) 200m, Color B (Tomato) 150m, Color C (Vines) 50m.

Yarn for Blueberry Motif:

If holding 2 strands of fingering weight yarn:
Approximately: Color A (Background) 400m, Color B (Blueberry Main) 250m, Color C (Leaves) 150m, Color D (Blueberry Dark) 30m

If holding 1 strand of DK weight yarn:
Approximately: Color A (Background) 200m, Color B (Blueberry Main) 125m, Color C (Leaves) 75m, Color D (Blueberry Dark) 15m

Note: If you want to work the handle in a color other than Color A, increase the amount of your desired color by 150m holding double fingering or 75m holding DK.
