The Reader Shawl is a companion to have around your shoulders while reading a good book, working at your desk or computer, or whenever you need a touch of warmth or comfort. This shawl is a perfect light extra layer or can even serve as an oversized scarf. A sweet small shawl/shawlette, that may be knit larger, as desired. While this is an accessory with an effortless, everyday wearable beauty, the shawl can also become a special occasion piece when knitted with a unique yarn.

The shawl is a triangular shape worked from its slightly pointed tip at the bottom with side increases making up the wingspan to the top. It features stockinette/stocking stitch along with a delicate eyelet lace stripe motif, and is finished with a simple garter stitch edging before the cast off. 4 ply/fingering weight yarn is used for this pattern. Yarns in solid, semi-solid, or gently speckled variations would be ideal for this pattern. This is an ideal first shawl project for beginning knitters! But knitters of all experience levels will enjoy this project. The way the pattern works becomes easy to memorize once you get started. Happy Knitting!
