Introducing the Retro Hacky Sack Pattern. Hacky Sacks are a throw-back to the 80’s and regaining in popularity right now. They are a great way to build community and intergenerational fun. All ages can get involved in playing Hacky Sack. I like to make them from bright cheery colours and when I take them to the market to sell, people love to be able to pick out the hacky sack that speaks to them. I fill them with popcorn and they are the perfect feel and weight for hacky sack fun

The Retro Hacky Sack is made with the simple single crochet stitch and is worked in the round. I use a worsted weight (4) yarn and a 2.5mm hook to get the tight stitch required to hold the pop-corn inside, with none of the kernels slipping through the stitches. It is beginner friendly and just a little fiddly at the end as you close it up and try to keep all the pop-corn inside.
