I designed The Richmond Beanie as a great way to show off your hand dyed yarn skeins. A unisex design was important so that the colourwork of the yarn was the feature, highlighted by the simple slip stitches. So, why the ‘Richmond’ beanie naming? So many reasons. This weekend should be Grand Final weekend in Melbourne, yet the football Grand Final will be in October and in Queensland, while we continue to sit in lockdown. Last year we were able to enjoy the Grand Final with family and Richmond won, which was great as half my family barracks for Richmond. This then made me think of my Dad, someone who taught me how to knit, and as he barracked for Richmond, he would have loved to see them win a few Grand Finals in recent years. I have been wanting to attribute a design to my Dad for some time now, as, without his patient teaching, I would not be the knitter I am today.

This beanie is perfect for your special hand dyed skeins as it shows off the unique colouring of these skeins. It uses a simple slip stitch repeat to create an engaging pattern, full of squishy texture!
