ABOUT THE PATTERN

The Rowyn Cardigan is a beginner-friendly Tunisian crochet cardigan pattern with a relaxed, cozy fit and plenty of texture. It is made with DK-weight yarn using the Tunisian Chill Stitch and finished with Tunisian ribbing.

If you have been wanting to make your first Tunisian crochet garment, Rowyn was designed to make the process feel approachable. The stitch pattern uses a simple combination of Tunisian knit stitch and Tunisian simple stitch, and a complete video tutorial is included to guide you through the construction and techniques.

SKILL LEVEL

Beginner-friendly Tunisian crochet garment pattern. The video tutorial demonstrates the stitches, construction, shaping, ribbing, and finishing techniques used in the pattern.

CONSTRUCTION

Rowyn is worked flat, beginning with the ribbing at the bottom of the back panel. Stitches are picked up along the ribbing, and the back is worked from the bottom to the shoulders. The panel is then divided to form the two front panels.

The sleeves are picked up directly from the body and worked flat from the shoulder toward the wrist. Tunisian ribbing is added to the front panels and neckline before the cardigan is blocked and seamed.

The pattern includes guidance for adjusting the sleeve opening, wrist fit, and sleeve length.

Rowyn is designed for a relaxed fit with approximately 3 to 5 inches of positive ease. Select the size corresponding to your actual bust measurement for the intended relaxed fit. If you are between sizes, size down for a closer fit or size up for a roomier fit. You can also choose a larger finished bust measurement if you would like to wear Rowyn with a more oversized fit.

• 6.5 mm Tunisian crochet hook with a 22 to 47-inch cable and stopper, or the hook needed to meet gauge

15 stitches and 14 rows equal 4 inches in Tunisian Chill Stitch after blocking.

SAMPLE YARNS

The pink tweed sample was made with The Frosted Stitch Toasty Tweed DK in Himalayan Pink Salt. This yarn is 85% superwash merino and 15% Donegal neps, with 231 yards per 100 grams.

The green sample was made with Cesium Yarn Strong DK in Ms. Scarlett. This yarn is 75% superwash merino and 25% nylon, with 245 yards per 100 grams.
