A shoulder hug in Alpaca and silk, with only one increase round, the easy ebb and flow of this graceful lace stitch is uninterrupted by seams; as steady and comforting to knit as it is to wear.

I was invited by Leslie Prior - Artisan Project Manager for the Campaign for Wool - to knit cushions emblazoned with the word WOOL. Each cushion had a letter I made 3 sets.

I pootled up to London to see my fab creations in situ on Blackfriars Bridge for the Queen’s Jubilee Thames Pageant Celebration…. on the train travelling to and fro I designed this lacy poncho.

I called this wonderful soft floaty garment The Royal Wave in honour of the great lady… and the fact that she was waving, while travelling underneath the bridge in the embellished boat, about 30 feet from us.

ABBREVIATIONS

k: knit | p: purl | Rnd: round | St(s): stitch(es)
yo: yarn over - starting at front of work pass yarn over needle to the back. If the st before the yo was a knit st, first bring yarn to the front underneath needle. When you reach this yo on the next round k it as directed. This should make a hole.
k2tog: k2 sts together as one.
ssk: slip a st knitwise, slip another st knitwise, insert left- hand needle into slipped sts and k together.

^ If you have not created a tension square and find you have a huge amount of yarn left over, repeat Rnd1 to Rnd18 once more – you should use the full hank/s to create the length stated.
