A elegant crescent shaped shawl with a central ostrich plume panel and a pleated flounce. The lace panel is simple and easy to memorise, just enough to engage the knitter’s interest whilst still being a relaxing knit with a great result-to-effort ratio.

Like a garden glimpsed through a gate between high walls, this shawl with its delicate fern-like tracery enhanced by the contrast of solid borders, was inspired by one of my favourite childhood books.

Designed to be knit from a single ball of sock wool, but can easily be adapted to other yarn weights by adjusting needle size accordingly. The shawl pictured was knit using approx 380m of Fyberspates Scrumptious, and measures 160 x 35cm.

The shawl can also be easily extended by repeating the lace section or continuing the flounce.
