This pattern is written with the beginner knitter in mind. You know how to cast on, knit and purl, but are tired of making scarves. You want to make hats and mittens, but are not ready to tackle double pointed needles or the “magic loop”. This pattern lets you knit your hat flat and then seam it together. You will see that hats make quick gifts which everyone will love and you may be asked to make more than one.
The pattern is written for a bulky weight yarn so the hat will knit up quickly. There are different design options:

  • You can knit the hat in a ribbing
  • You can knit your hat with a ribbed cuff and then switch to stockinette stitch (either a cuff which folds over or one which doesn’t fold over).
  • You can knit the stockinette stitch all along creating a rolled edge. The featured hat is ribbed all the way.
